On Sunday August 5, Man Utd beat Chelsea in the 2007 Community Shield final on penalties. Before the start of the game all bets were on Chelsea to beat Man Utd. Even though Man Utd had won two more Community Shield cups than Chelsea since Ferguson took charge of the Reds, the Blues had the upper hand in the last 11 games played between the two. Chelsea had won 6, drawn 4 and lost 1 of the games against Man Utd.
Chelsea looked the better side in the first 20 or so minutes of the game but Man Utd took control of the game and played the better football resulting in an easy but excellent goal from Giggs. The Blues however, stepped up their game and equalized in the 45th minute of the first half.
Even though both teams were missing important players, this was a decent game. With new and crucial summer signings, these teams will be the teams to beat in the upcoming premiership. But as always, my money is on Chelsea.
