Rooney targets captain’s armband

The 22-year-old England international has admitted that he has a desire to win more silverware with the Red Devils, with the ultimate aim being to captain the side in the process.
Rooney, who is sidelined for around a month after sustaining an ankle injury at United’s training ground, said:
“If I got chosen to be captain, it would be a great honour.”
“I think you play football to win things, to make people happy and to make history.
“If I can have half the success that the Busby Babes did at United [in the 1950s], then I’d be delighted with that.
“You definitely want to be remembered and not forgotten, so I suppose everybody wants to be part of history.”
Rooney scored seven goals in his last seven games for United before injury ruled him out of Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, but he says his good record doesn’t make him complacent.
“It’s definitely been a good time for me goals-wise - I’ve been scoring regularly,” he added.
“But you have to make sure that you keep doing what you’re doing when you’re on a good run - you have to keep working hard.”

now this could be interesting. Rooney is a good player, no doubt. but he hasn’t quite reach the stage in his career where he can successfully captain man utd. first of all, he needs to fix his temperament issues. right now i think that’s the only thing standing between him and his dream of becoming the captain of such a great team like man utd. the players need to be able to look up to him.

I think rooney and ronaldo are both perfect for the armband and,I can assure you that these two youngsters are the future of manutd and we need to see that this year ferguson must let waza rooney and wonderboy(cristiano)replace giggs and gary neville,I also thinking that evra should also have the same chance because he is among the best and active players on his postion in the world
