Scolari hints Drogba will stay on

Posted by kwame on July 8, 2008

New Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari says Didier Drogba is “200%” part of his plans at Stamford Bridge.

The Ivory Coast striker, 30, has been linked with a move away from the club, with AC Milan and Barcelona reported to be lining up offers.

But in his first media conference in England as Blues boss, Scolari said: “I saw Didier on Monday and I saw him happy. We had a good conversation.

“Is he part of my plans? Yes, 100%. No, 200%. I like him and want him to stay.”

On Friday, Barcelona vice-president Ferran Soriano suggested the Catalans were close to signing the frontman.

And AC Milan technical director Leonardo told BBC Sport on Monday: “It’s no secret we’re interested in signing a forward and are studying candidates.

“Drogba is a fine player. We are waiting for the right time to move.”

Spanish giants Real Madrid and AC’s city rivals Inter Milan are also rumoured to be interested but it has been reported that Chelsea are yet to receive a single offer for Drogba.

Lampard wants to stay – Scolari

Posted by kwame on July 8, 2008

New Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari insists Frank Lampard has told him he wants to remain at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have rejected an official approach from Inter Milan to discuss the transfer of the 30-year-old.

“I was very happy because I asked if he wants to stay and he said ‘yes, I will stay at Chelsea’,” said Scolari.

But Lampard has just one year left on his current contract and his agent Steve Kutner says the player’s future is “completely unresolved”.

Talks over a new deal for Lampard have been on-going for two years without success and Chelsea face the prospect of the England international leaving for free next summer if the matter is not resolved.

Inter Milan are keen on capturing Lampard with coach Jose Mourinho, who managed the England international in his spell as Chelsea boss, keen to take him to the San Siro.

“You’ve got Inter claiming they’ve made a bid, Chelsea saying that they are not entering into discussions over a transfer and Lampard pretty much saying meet my terms,” said BBC football correspondent Jonathan Legard.

“Those terms from what I gather are a four-year deal worth about £150,000-a-week.
